DONATE A RIDE is a City of Edmonton initiated charity spearheaded by Councillor Kim Krushell, Chair and Councillor Bryan Anderson, Co-chair. DONATE A RIDE funds are used to purchase transit tickets which are distributed to local social service agencies. The agencies provide the transit tickets to low-income Edmonton families that are in need of basic transportation to get to employment, educational and social services that are required to improve their quality of life.
Since it's inception in 1996, DONATE A RIDE has grown tremendously and is now able to help thousands of Edmontonians every year via local social service agencies. We are not only able to help individuals, but we are assisting social service agencies in helping people better their lives.
Launched in 1996, DONATE A RIDE has distributed over $1.2 million worth of tickets to the clients of local agencies.
In 2010 alone, 86,270 tickets made it into the hands of Edmontonians who needed a lift. The dollar value of the tickets distributed was $184,712.00—the true value to the people whose lives were affected is immeasurable.
