DONATE A RIDE Wins CUTA Award Three champions of Edmonton's DONATE A RIDE program are the recipients of the Canadian Urban Transit Volunteer/Advocate Award for 2008. This award honours the achievements of those who actively promote or champion public transit in Canada.
Former Councillor Allan Bolstad founded the DONATE A RIDE program in 1996 in response to needs identified by Edmonton social service agencies. Councillor Kim Krushell replaced Allan Bolstad as Chair of the program when he retired from City Council. Councillor Bryan Anderson has been an active supporter of the program, serving as Vice Chair for both Allan Bolstad and Kim Krushell.
Working with civic unions, corporate sponsors and community agencies, these three individuals have ensured that over 500,000 ETS tickets reached those who needed a lift in their lives. They have given of their time and expertise to ensure that those "in need" are able to get where they have to go.
